9 weeks

How far along? 9 weeks
Total weight gain: down 6lbs
Maternity clothes? Not yet !
Sleep: I'm pretty much screwed in the sleep department. Naps are my friend, sleeping at night is not.
Best moment this week: At our appointment we were talking to the doctor about what happens after delivery and asked about the baby being placed on my chest and I almost started crying! It's so crazy to imagine that!
Movement: Not for a while yet
Gender: It will be a surprise!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: OK, I kind of miss drinking. Especially at the holiday parties. But it's worth it!
What I am looking forward to: We are telling the rest of my extended family on Christmas Eve and Christmas day and I can't wait!
Weekly Wisdom: Wait as long as you want to tell people but I'll be honest, telling people in person is SO much fun!!

We've started telling some of our close friends in person so by the time we reveal things on facebook our close friends will already know. It's a BLAST! I can't wait until it's totally out in the open and there's no more hiding.

The pregnancy is definitely feeling more real as my body is changing. I'll spare you the details but I'm definitely feeling a difference! Another 4-6 weeks and I'll have an obvious bump and shortly after that I'll be able to feel the baby move and that will be AMAZING! So much to look forward to!

Very glad to report that I still don't have morning sickness and I've been blessed with a great first trimester (so far).

8 weeks

How far along? 8weeks today!
Total weight gain: down 3lbs
Maternity clothes? Not yet !
Sleep: I've been staying up really late, waking up every hour during the night and getting my best sleep between 7-10am.
Best moment this week: Baby is now a fetus and no longer an embryo. That feels pretty significant!
Movement: Not for a while yet!
Gender: It will be a surprise!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: Not much. I don't miss drinking like I thought I might. It feels weird not telling people. I'll be so happy when we can share our joyful news!
What I am looking forward to: Telling my extended family at Christmas and my friends shortly after. I'm looking forward to when I actually have a belly to show off and some of my answers to these questions can change! haha
Weekly Wisdom: On days when you don't feel sick or  you don't 'feel pregnant', try to enjoy it instead of worrying!

Our next appointment is 12/21 but that's just for questions. I won't get to see the baby again until 12 weeks (if we decide to do an NT scan) and if we don't do the genetic testing I won't see baby until 20 weeks :( I wish I could see the baby every day! Not for anything practical, I just want to see the heart beating again!

Dear Baby, 7 weeks

Dear Baby,

It's Sunday morning and I've been watching old episodes of Extreme Makeover Home Edition to clear up space on our DVR. I love this show because it reminds me of all of the good people in the world. It's also making me tear up every 5 minutes just like every sentimental moment on tv these days. Who cries during 2012? Apparently I do! I'm the world's biggest sap right now and I've heard it only gets worse!

Today you are 7 weeks and 2 days old. You are the size of a blueberry or raspberry or some sort of berry. :) I enjoy the fruit analogies in the baby books but fruits come in so many different sizes so I don't always find it helpful! Still, my little berry, you continue to grow and that's all I care about! Keep up the good work.

Friday afternoon Daddy and I saw you on ultrasound for the first time! Daddy was SO excited about the appointment he kept talking about it all week. There wasn't a whole lot to see since you're such a teeny bean (errr berry?) at this point but we saw your little baby shape, tail and all, and we saw your little heart beat flickering away on screen! I could have watched that all day, it was amazing. Life. Flickering away on that screen. Your life has begun.

I think seeing your heartbeat made this whole pregnancy thing really hit home for Daddy. He said "Not that it didn't feel real before but now it feels REAL!" I know what he means. Seeing you is different than imagining you inside of me. Hopefully next time we see you you'll look a little more human and less like a reptile. :) You've got some time and some serious growing to do!

You feel real to me because as of recently I've been feeling pretty sick to my stomach in the afternoons! Some friends of mine who have had babies or are pregnant right now have pointed out "This is the best reason in the world to feel like garbage!" I can't help but agree with them. I'm just hoping I don't end up with my head in the toilet for the next month. So far I've only gotten sick one time, but that was in the middle of my 2 day migraine so I'm hoping that was caused by the headache and not by 'morning sickness'. (by the way, terms like 'morning sickness' who were invented by men who have never experienced it make me angry at men. But that's another story!)

So, I kind of think you're a girl! Sorry if you're reading this and you're not, but I think you are. :) I have a 50/50 chance of being right so I'm going to go with my intuition. Maybe it's because I have a bunch of girl names that I really love but not really any boy names that sound perfect. I don't know how I'm going to wait almost 8 more months to find out. I have heard that sometimes with boys it is so obvious on the ultrasound that there's really no question. So, if that's the case, I won't be sad about finding out early, hee hee. (No Steve, I will not close my eyes during the ultrasound!)

I like writing these letters. It feels like I'm hanging out with you for a little bit while I type them. I think about you all the time but I guess I don't talk to you very much yet. I think that would sound a bit nuts at this point but maybe I'll start. I sing to you though. I try to sing every single day so you'll know my voice. I also sing every day because it makes me so happy. Happy Mommy, happy baby, right?

That's about all I can think of right now. I want to keep talking to you but, baby, we have time. You'll be mine forever and I'm so thankful.

I love you so much. (lordy, crying again!)

7 weeks!

How far along? 7 weeks today!
Total weight gain: down 3lbs
Maternity clothes? Not yet but I've been opting for comfort preferring yoga pants and wearing the belly band with my jeans unbuttoned. Why be uncomfortable?
Sleep: After my 2 day migraine my sleep schedule is totally messed up so I'm staying up as long as I can tonight in hopes of actually sleeping through the night.
Best moment this week: We had our first ultrasound and seeing that little flickering heartbeat on the screen was nothing short of magical.
Movement: Not for a while yet!
Gender: It will be a surprise!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: Going and entire day without feeling sick to my stomach. I also miss my migraine drugs. Tylenol just is NOT the same!
What I am looking forward to: I'm looking forward to getting to 8 weeks. That seems like a milestone for some reason.
Weekly Wisdom: If you feel like crap, it's ok to put yourself first. I was nowhere near as productive this week as I had hoped to be but forcing myself to do work would have just prolonged how awful I felt.

No noticable bump yet. I'll probably look like this for awhile but I want to keep posting belly pictures anyhow. :) You might notice that my hair is different. I decided to go closer to my natural color so it will grow out better over the course of the pregnancy. Don't worry, I just did foils so no dye actually touched my skin. It's perfectly safe! I like the darker look and so does Steve. It was time!

Opening up the blog

I'm opening up the blog instead of making it invite only so if you want to add it to your google readers, it will work now! I highly doubt that people I don't want to find it will somehow find it on blogger so I figured it's easier this way! Enjoy!

6 weeks

How far along? 6 weeks today!
Total weight gain: 0.
Maternity clothes? Not yet but my jeans are getting tight around the waist!
Sleep: I wake up at night a lot and usually end up getting up to pee in case that was the reason I woke up in the first place. I've also had VERY vivid dreams, some scary, some just weird.
Best moment this week: Telling our families! That was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I'm so happy we didn't wait!
Movement: Not for a while yet!
Gender: It will be a surprise!
Labor Signs: None.
Belly Button in or out? In.
What I miss: Eating whatever I want without having to think about whether or not it is safe.
What I am looking forward to: Our first appointment is on Friday afternoon and I'm hoping to see the heartbeat!!
Weekly Wisdom: Be thankful for mild symptoms! I keep waiting to get really sick but I found out that my mom was never sick when she was pregnant so I'm hoping I inherited that from her!

We Told the Families!

Wednesday night we told Steve's family and while the actual surprise part didn't work exactly as planned, the reception was still great.

The idea was to gather everyone for a picture, tell everyone to 'Say Cheese' and then take one more and say 'Everyone say Morgan's Pregnant!'

So we did that and there was no reaction when Steve snapped the second photo. Then I said "No, really, I am!" and everyone reacted haha.

So, we didn't get it on film but that's ok. :) Everyone is very excited. We will have the 3rd grand baby on that side and the existing ones (ages 2 and 1) will be excited to have a cousin!

Thursday we told my family.

When we arrived the first thing my sister asked was if we were pregnant so I asked all exasperated and told her that her questions would be really hurtful if she kept asking and it took a really long time to get pregnant. Then she offered to donate one of her eggs to me if I couldn't do it myself, which was really sweet. haha

I was pretty much jumping out of my skin for the next hour because I really wanted to tell but everyone was cooking and getting things set up.

Finally I called everyone over under the pretense of a 'group hug' and I told them that we've all been through so much this past year and I'm so glad we were all able to be together today to celebrate the end of this year and we have so much to look forward to. Then I gave my sister a wrapped photo frame. It was the baby frame mentioned below and in the photo spot it read "Baby Crane, Photo coming July 23, 2010".

Torey unwrapped it and then my brother and SIL read it over her shoulder then my parents leaned in and read it too so it was a ripple reaction. It was fantastic and I got THEIR reactions on video with my new Flip. :) I'll get it up online soon.

Torey was indignant that I had been lying to her for the past two weeks but she was so excited that she carried around the baby frame with her for the next hour. haha.

It was fantastic.
